Milos is the third largest island in the Cyclades. It is situated near to the islands of Folegandros and Sifnos in the south east of the Cyclades. It is an island that is famous for the "Venus of Milo" statue that was discovered here many years ago.
Milos is an extremely beautiful island, and one that combines the traditional appearances and styles, with the rich and flourishing nature, and the mountains and the blue of the Aegean Sea. It is a place where one cannot help but to relax and unwind.
The capital town of Milos is Chora ( Hora ), though it is also known as Plaka. Here you can see the famous castle that stands proud and overlooks the town and out over the island. As well as this impressive castle, there are other interesting sights for visitors to see such as the ancient theatre, the quaint museum, as well as some wonderful old churches that house Cretan wall paintings.
There are some excellent beaches located around the island of Milos, and several of them have amazing caves. Some of the most popular and sandy beaches that you can find on Milos include the beaches of Parafragan, Filiplaka and Gerontas.
There are other villages scattered around the coast where you can find some great beaches as well, such as the coastal villages of Bombarda, Papikina and Legada.
The village of Kleftiko, situated on the southern point of the island,
is a very impressive village, where you can see the dazzling white cliffs
riddles with caves. This is actually known as the Meteora of the Sea.
