Hotel Bookings in Piraeus

The port of Piraeus ( Pireas ) is the most important in all of Greece, and is the gateway to the islands of Greece and beyond from the capital city of Athens. The port of Piraeus has played a vital role in the history of Greece ever since the ancient years.

Hotels in Piraeus Greece

From Piraeus, you can find ferry boats departing for the majority of islands on the Aegean ( the Cyclades, the Dodecanese and the North East Aegean Islands ). There are no routes to any of the islands of the Sporades ( Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos ), and some of the smaller Cyclades and Dodecanese islands will often require a connection from one the larger neighbouring islands.

The port of Piraeus is very easy to reach, and is the last station of the old Metro line. There are also many bus routes travelling to and from Piraeus, and are also plans to entend the Athens tram to the port as well.

There is also a direct bus travelling from the Athens Airport to the port of Piraeus, making it very accessible for those travelling into Athens, and then heading straight off to the Greek islands.

Piraeus is a very busy town throughout the year, especially during the summer season, where it is the most busiest transportation hub for ferry boat travel around Greece. During the summer, visitors may often have to purchase or book their tickets in advance.

As well as the port, Piraeus is also an interesting town in it's own right. With the neoclassical style buildings along the docks, the bustling market place and fresh market, as well as a great selection of tavernas and restaurants scattered around the area, Piraeus has it's own unique charm and character.

Nearly all visitors to Greece will visit Athens, and with it's huge selection of sights, entertainment and history, it is a place where you can enjoy unique holidays and vacations throughout the year.
