Kefalonia ( Kefallonia ) is the largest of all islands in the Ionian. It is a very rich and colourful island, with green mountains, rolling hilltops, and a stunning coastline, making it very popular for summer holidays and vacations in Greece.
Argostoli is the capital town of the island, and is a relatively newly built town. The original town was destroyed by the devastating earthquakes of 1953. The town is very impressive and quaint, and visitors can enjoy strolls around the paths and narrow streets.
There are many interesting places and sites for visitors on Kefalonia. One of the most popular attractions on the island is the "Kastro" castle. This used to be the medieval capital of the island.
As well as Argostoli, there are several other very interesting and picturesque towns on the island.
The town of Lixouri, which is the second largest on the island, is home to some of the most popular beaches on the island, in particular, the beautiful beach of Xi.
Lassi is another popular destination on the island, and one where you can find a great selection of entertainment, and a lively nightlife.
